.dream: in a large mansion, go over to a tall shelf by wall, huge stack of papers in shelf, i grab a
sheet of paper, chinese characters stamped in red ink from a rubber stamp, these are language
learning materials for a minority language in china, tones and pronunciation written
next to the characters, end scene,

.every year for the past several years, a side project of mine, a project i didn't even know about,
was learning a minority tonal language from china, first year, going over the tones, second
year, going over the tones again, same language, third year, new language, going over the
tones,

.dream: in a huge building, on the basement level, mcdonalds restaurant here, some
guy from india takes my harmonica and goes and sits in a chair in dark part of room, i come
up behind guy, pull his chair back, take my harmonica back from his right hand,
.
.guy is on the phone, i tell him he is safe, put chair back, a kid from india enters space,
'it's time' he seems to tell me, me and kid leave basement area, going up stairs, stairwell
turns left, kid leads me into a middle stairwell area that i didn't even know existed,
going up more stairs,

.reach floor six, from floor six point five to floor seven point five there are no stairs
in the stair well, i climb up on a wire, not safe to continue going up, the building doesn't
seem to go any higher here, we need to go onto floor six and into a different stair well,
i come down from wire, kid jumps down from wire like he was told not do to,
i look up again, now there are more floors going up,

.me and kid enter into floor six, lady behind a counter directs us to other stairwell, this seems
to be the day care floor, jump over a mat, kid's playground on left, caretaker women and
group of children on right, entry to stair well on left, me and kid enter into stairwell,
going up, stairs seems to curve right here,

.running across a huge piano, the keys bounce me forward, kid is running ahead of me,
reaching top level of building, when i was in the military in california i used to imagine
myself running up these levels, now i'm actually doing it,
.
top level, large puzzle of a ram on left, variation in class, twenty nineteen, twenty twenty,
kid goes over to a piano, sits down, starts to play, this top level is like the mattress of a water bed,
i pass by kid at piano, some lady is coming over to me, she says some kind of company motto
'seeds need each other's roots to grow', then she asks me about my prenuptial agreement,
i have no idea what she's talking about,
